Cultivating responsible and socially sensitive individuals by nurturing a nuanced understanding of self, society, and imagination.

About the department

The Department promotes an intellectual climate of critical and creative ideation by inculcating among its students the habit of a critical reading of the word and the world alike. Dr Arun D M

Department of English and Cultural Studies (BYC), is an ensemble of literature studies, cultural studies and language studies. Our dynamic faculty, experts in Literature, Films, Linguistics, Cultural Studies, and Philosophy, provide a diverse and enriching experience. Through our two major programmes—BA Psychology English and MA English with Communication Studies—the department emphasises social engagement and guides students to meet academic requirements. We foster students’ transformation into responsible individuals prepared for professional and academic challenges. Commitment to society is enhanced through internships, field projects, and Service-Learning programmes with NGOs. Our Annual Association Fest (Wisteria) and Annual PG Student Seminar (PRISM) build connections and help master the skill of understanding self and society.
